Who We Are
The Southeast European Observer is a dedicated group blog that bridges the information gap between Southeast Europe and the world. While we are not a news outlet in the traditional sense, we are a group of passionate volunteers with diverse backgrounds in journalism, citizen journalism, communications, public relations, marketing, and international relations. Our team boasts expertise in editing, fact-checking, journalist training, and media development.
Our Mission
Our primary goal is to provide concise, accurate, and contextual summaries of news from 11 countries in Southeast Europe: Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia. We parse regional, national, and local news in regional languages, extracting the essence of news stories and presenting them in English for an international audience.
What We Do
We don’t engage in original reporting. Instead, we meticulously follow regional, national, and local media and news outlets from Southeast Europe daily. By summarizing these articles in English, we offer our international readers a distilled version of the news, enriched with context and additional information for clarity.
