1 in 3 Women in Croatia Are Victims of Domestic Violence or Abuse

September 22 is National Fight Against Violence Toward Women Day in Croatia, in memory of a tragedy in which three women were murdered and one almost lost her life during divorce proceedings in a Municipal Court in Zagreb in 1999.

Regional CNN affiliate N1 reported staggering statistic today, showing that 300 women were killed by their partners in the last decade, eight having lost their lives in domestic violence cases so far this year alone. According to these statistics, one in every three women in Croatia are victims of domestic violence or abuse.
